Express Train project contract signed

The Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Investment Fund, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf, and the Minister of Transport and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Organization for Railways, Dr. Jubarah Al-Suraiseri, signed in Riyadh today a three-year contract with Al-Rajhi Consortium, worth SR 6.79 billion ($1.8 billion), for work on the Express Train Project for the Two Holy Mosques.

 

In remarks during the accompanying ceremony, Dr. Al-Suraiseri stressed that the endeavor is one of the most important transportation projects in Saudi Arabia and represents one of the important elements in the ongoing program of expanding and modernizing the nation’s railway network.

Dr. Al-Assaf noted in a press statement that the train’s maximum speed will be 320 kilometers per hour (200 mile per hour). He declared that the project will not only serve residents in the Kingdom, but will benefit Muslims visiting from around the world.
