Crown Prince Salman chairs Cabinet session (2/25/13)

Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet meeting this afternoon at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. The session began with a review of reports on developments in the regional and international arenas, as well as foreign consultations. The Cabinet strongly condemned attempts to undermine security and stability in Bahrain, denouncing the acts of terrorism perpetrated against the Bahraini people.
Turning to domestic affairs, the ministers welcomed the message delivered by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz at the opening ceremony of the first year of the sixth session of the Majlis Al-Shura. During his remarks, the monarch called on the members of the Majlis to perform their duties with rationality, moderation, and patience.
Then, the Cabinet was briefed on the conferences, exhibitions, and activities held in the Kingdom last week, including the Third International Education Forum and Exhibition and the First International Conference to Employ Technology to Serve People with Special Needs.
Addressing its remaining agenda items, the Cabinet authorized the Minister of Foreign Affairs to sign a draft headquarters agreement with the Board of Directors of the Monetary Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC); approved the Montreal Amendment (1997) and the Beijing Amendment (1999) concerning the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer; approved the amendment of rules regarding the organization of expenses of Saudi patients and their companions transferred outside their areas of residence; approved the renewal of the membership of Abdullah Al-Ammar and Mohammed Al-Imran on the Board of Directors of the General Organization of Railways for a period of three years; approved the appointment of Jaber Al-Shihri as a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture on the Board of Directors of the General Organization for Grain Silos and Flour Mills for a period of three years; and approved a cooperation agreement with China in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, signed in Riyadh on 1/15/12.
