King Abdullah chairs Cabinet session

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz opened the weekly Cabinet meeting in Rawdhat Khuraim today by offering assurances of the good health of Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, who his undergoing medical checkups and treatment in the United States.


The King then briefed the Cabinet on his consultations last week with visiting King Abdullah II of Jordan, reporting that the meetings focused on bilateral relations and the plight of the Palestinian people.

Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal presented the results of the joint meeting of the Foreign and Finance ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held yesterday in Riyadh. The Cabinet commended the outcome of the session, during which the delegates discussed the best ways of delivering GCC contributions to rebuilding the Gaza Strip.

The Cabinet strongly condemned the hostile statements, voiced by a number of Iranian officials, questioning the sovereignty and the Arab identity of Bahrain. In addition, it denounced the explosion that occurred yesterday in Cairo, which targeted innocent civilians, including Saudi citizens.

The Cabinet then approved a number of initiatives aimed at increasing women’s employment in specific fields; renamed the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) the Saudi Commission for Specifications, Standards and Quality and reorganized its structure; authorized regulations regarding the provision of gasoline on Farasan Island; approved the final account of the National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development (NCWCD) for fiscal year 1426/1427 H; and granted the license for the establishment of the Yanbu Water and Electricity Company.
