Crown Prince chairs Cabinet session

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet session held at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh today. He briefed the ministers on recent communications with foreign leaders, including a telephone call from U.S. President Barack Obama and a message from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev received by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, as well as meetings held by the Crown Prince with French Prime Minister Francois Fillon and Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jasim bin Jabir Al-Thani.

The Cabinet discussed the latest developments in the region and welcomed the peaceful transition of power in Egypt, expressing hope that the Egyptian Armed Forces will restore peace, stability and prosperity in that country. It also lauded the outcome of the 11th session of the Saudi-Moroccan Joint Committee held in Rabat last week, which focused on increasing joint investments and strengthening the private sector.

After discussing the items on its agenda, the Cabinet approved a code of conduct to repress piracy and armed assault on ships in the Western Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden; approved resolutions of the 24th Congress of the Universal Postal Union held in Geneva in 2008; and approved adding a representative of the Ministry of Education to the membership of the Council for Health Services.

The Cabinet extended the terms of Isa Al-Isa and Yousef Al-Benian as representative members of the private sector on the Board of Directors of the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training for three years, starting Feb 14, 2011, and appointed Dr. Sami Barom and Dr. Sameer Al-Tabib as members of the same Board for three years, starting Feb 14, 2011.).
