Crown Prince Sultan chairs Cabinet session

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz began the Cabinet session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh today with a briefing on the telephone calls the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz received last week from Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
The Cabinet focused primarily on the continuing relief efforts in Jeddah Province, where heavy rainfall and flooding on January 26 caused widespread damage and injuries. Second Deputy Prime Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz delivered a report on his inspection visit to Jeddah last week, as well as the Ministerial Committee meeting he chaired to coordinate the efforts of different government departments. The ministers affirmed that all efforts are being exerted to implement the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to provide assistance to the people of Jeddah.
Turning to international affairs, the Cabinet continued to monitor the latest developments in Egypt and expressed hope that the situation there will be solved by peaceful means in order to maintain stability and security and to avoid negative economic implications for the country. The ministers also hoped that the results of the referendum in Sudan will foster peace between the north and the south and wished all progress and prosperity to the Sudanese people.
Addressing its weekly agenda items, the Cabinet decided that the Youth Welfare department, represented by scout teams, will be among the bodies supporting the Ministry of Hajj in providing services to pilgrims; approved the inclusion of a representative of the National Center for Documents and Archives on the board of the King Abdulaziz Foundation and the inclusion, in return, of a representative of the King Abdulaziz Foundation on the board of the National Center; authorized the Minister of Finance to sign a draft agreement on customs cooperation with Syria; and approved a memorandum of cooperation in the field of health with Qatar.
The Cabinet approved the appointments of Abdulaziz Al-Tob as Mayor of Hail Province at the Ministry of Municipalities and Rural Affairs (15th rank); Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Dubayyan as Adviser for Education at the Ministry of Education (15th rank); Abdurrahman Al-Ali as Undersecretary of the Mayor for Services at the Ministry of Municipalities and Rural Affairs (14th rank); and Rashid Al-Qaiad as Assistant Undersecretary for Guidance and Educational Supervision at the Ministry of Education (14th rank).
