U.S., Saudi energy officials meet in Riyadh

Assistant Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for Petroleum Affairs Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and Deputy U.S. Energy Secretary Daniel Poneman co-chaired the annual meeting of the Saudi-U.S. Technical Committee for Petroleum and Energy Affairs in Riyadh today. The forum is held to examine the state of the global economy, the conditions of oil markets, and expectations for future supply and demand. During the meeting, the two sides discussed their countries’ rational energy use programs, developments in renewable energy, and technical advancements aimed at preserving the environment. U.S.-Saudi technical cooperation in the field of energy was also reviewed.
Yesterday, Deputy Secretary Poneman was received by Vice President of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) for Research Institutes Prince Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed, who briefed the U.S. official on KACST’s current programs and future plans.
