Arab interior ministers hold counterterrorism meeting

The Council of Arab Interior Ministers concluded their 25th annual meeting in Tunis today. The Saudi delegation was led by Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, who also serves as honorary president of the Council.   

The two-day meeting focused on security issues, in particular counterterrorism.

In a final communiqué, the ministers condemned all forms of terrorism. They stressed the importance of developing a joint Arab security system and called for the establishment of an international counterterrorism center. The ministers also urged Arab interior ministries to support the security apparati in Lebanon and Iraq.

While in Tunis, Prince Nayef met separately with Tunisian President Zine Al-Abidine Ben Ali and the interior ministers of Qatar and Bahrain
