Throughout 1999, the people of Saudi Arabia will be commemorating the
centennial of the recapture of Riyadh by King Abdul Aziz Ibn Abdul
Rahman Al-Saud, an event that led to the founding of the modern Kingdom

Achievements Over the past century, Saudi
Arabia has been transformed from a society which relied on rudimentary
agriculture and limited trade to one that is now a showcase of industry,
commerce, agro-industry, education, health and other areas of human
endeavor.
Preserving
Jeddah's Historic Buildings The historic
buildings of old Jeddah are being preserved as part of the nation-wide
programs marking the centennial of the recapture of Riyadh by King Abdul
Aziz Ibn Abdul Rahman Al-Saud.
