Fire at Aramco gas pipeline quickly contained, supplies unaffected

A fire erupted on a gas pipeline in eastern Saudi Arabia today, killing 28 workers and injuring 12, national oil company Saudi Aramco said in a statement. The fire was quickly contained and the company has taken the necessary measures to guarantee gas supplies.

The fire broke out as contractors were carrying out maintenance operations on a gas pipeline between Haradh and Al-Othamania, around 19 miles from Aramco’s Hawiyyah gas plant.

In the statement, Aramco expressed grief at the deaths of the workers and for those who were injured in the tragic incident.
