Foreign Minister discusses Lebanon, Iraq with Iranian counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal and Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki discussed regional crises as well as bilateral cooperation in a telephone call last night.

They talked about the need to continue consultations to resolve the crisis in Lebanon and reach a just solution that satisfies both sides.

On Iraq, the two foreign ministers expressed their concern about the situation there and highlighted the need for countries in the region, particularly Iraq’s neighbors, to cooperate in order to help the Iraqi government establish stability and security.

The Iranian News Agency reported that Prince Saud praised Motaki’s proposal to hold a meeting of Iraq’s neighbors in Baghdad, and that Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari is continuing efforts to bring about an early convention of such a meeting.
