Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz arrived in Moscow today for a three-day official visit to Russia.
In remarks to reporters at the airport after a red-carpet welcome, Crown Prince Sultan said that his visit aims to build on the close Saudi-Russian cooperation fostered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz’s 2003 visit to Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s 2007 visit to the Kingdom.
The Crown Prince welcomed Russia’s constructive role in promoting peace in the region, and said that both Russia and Saudi Arabia share views on achieving a just, comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
During his visit, Crown Prince Sultan is scheduled to hold talks with President Putin. The talks are expected to focus on regional and international issues, including Iraq, Lebanon, the Palestinian situation, the crisis over Iran’s nuclear program, and the upcoming Middle East peace summit in Annapolis, Maryland. Counterterrorism and bilateral relations are also likely to be on the agenda.
