Saudi authorities have foiled over 100 terrorist plots

Saudi security forces have prevented more than 100 “very big” terrorist attacks over the past four years, the Saudi Gazette reported April 7.

Maj. Gen. Ali Fayiz Al-Shihri, dean of the training faculty at Nayef Arab University for Security Sciences, was quoted in the Arabic daily Al-Hayat last week as saying that 105 terrorist plots have been foiled as recently as last week.

Most of the potential terrorists who have been detained are men under the age of 30 with only elementary or secondary school educations and a criminal record. Some of the plots, however, involved “kingpins of sabotage,” Al-Shihri said.
