Energy roundtable of Asian ministers meets in Riyadh

The second energy roundtable of Asian ministers was held in Riyadh today. In opening remarks on the occasion, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Al-Naimi assured Asian consumers that they can depend on west Asian oil-producing nations to meet future demand. Two-thirds of west Asian oil is exported to eastern Asian countries, he said.

Al-Naimi highlighted the importance of dialogue such as the energy roundtable to enhance cooperation between oil producers and consumers.

The first such ministerial roundtable was held in India in 2005. Seventeen countries participated in this year’s meeting, the theme of which was “Promoting Prosperity Through Energy Interdependence and Cooperation.”
