During the tour, King Abdullah will launch a number of major development projects, including healthcare facilities, schools, universities, water and electric projects and a causeway linking Saudi Arabia with Egypt.
The King’s tour of the northern provinces was scheduled to begin on Saturday, but was postponed due to the death of Makkah Governor Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdulaziz.
On May 4, a royal order granted amnesty to more than 11,000 prisoners serving jail sentences for committing petty crimes in various parts of the Kingdom as a result of the upcoming visit.
Last year, King Abdullah paid similar visits to Jubail, Al-Khobar, Qateef, Ahsa, Hail, Qassim, Madinah, Najran, Asir and Jizan.
