Funeral prayers peformed for Makkah Governor Prince Abdulmajeed

Funeral prayers were performed for Makkah Governor Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdulaziz at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh today.  

Prince Abdulmajeed, 65, died Saturday in the United States after a lengthy illness. He was a son of the late King Abdulaziz Al-Saud and a brother of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.

Yesterday, King Abdullah personally received the body of Prince Abdulmajeed, which was flown by private plane from the United States to Riyadh Air Base. The King was accompanied by senior Saudi officials.

A number of foreign leaders and dignitaries have traveled to Saudi Arabia to offer their condolences to the King at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, including Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Bahraini Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa Al-Khalifa, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad Al-Nahayan, Lebanese member of Parliament Saad Al-Hariri and Neil Bush, brother of US President George W. Bush.

In related news, funeral prayers were also held for for Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Yazid bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, 12, who died abroad yesterday after an illness.
