Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz chaired the Ninth Consultation Summit of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) leaders in Riyadh today.

The meeting was attended by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahayan, King Hamad Al-Khalifa of Bahrain, Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Al-Thani, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah, and Fahd Al-Saeed, Deputy Prime Minister of the Omani Council of Ministers.

In a press conference after the meeting, GCC Secretary-General Abdulrahman Al-Attiyah said that the leaders decided to expedite the transitional period of the GCC customs union before the organization’s 28th summit in Muscat, Oman. They also discussed requirements for a GCC common market, which will be announced at the Muscat summit.
