The meeting was attended by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahayan, King Hamad Al-Khalifa of Bahrain, Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Al-Thani, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah, and Fahd Al-Saeed, Deputy Prime Minister of the Omani Council of Ministers.
In a press conference after the meeting, GCC Secretary-General Abdulrahman Al-Attiyah said that the leaders decided to expedite the transitional period of the GCC customs union before the organization’s 28th summit in Muscat, Oman. They also discussed requirements for a GCC common market, which will be announced at the Muscat summit.
