Saudi Aramco and the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to conduct joint research in desalination technology.

Saleh Al-Jarrah, Director of Research and Technology at the SWCC, said the agreement aims to develop viable methods of water desalination and to guarantee a sustained supply of potable water in the country. Various Saudi universities and the King Abdulaziz City of Science and Technology are also involved in the project.

Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest producer of desalinated water. The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) operates 27 desalination stations that produce more than three million cubic meters a day of potable water.
