Cabinet calls on Palestinians to set aside their internal strife and seek unity

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting in Jeddah today. The Crown Prince opened the meeting by briefing the Cabinet on his recent meetings and consultations with world leaders and their envoys.

The Cabinet praised Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz’s efforts to promote peace, stability and security in the world, especially the Middle East. It welcomed the outcomes of the King’s state visits to Spain and France last week.

Turning to the situation in Palestine, the Cabinet expressed regret about the continuing internal strife among the Palestinian factions. It called on the Palestinian groups to put their national interest and unity above all else and spare the Palestinian people further tragedy.

The Cabinet issued a number of decisions, including amendments to an article of the Armed Services Council System. It also authorized the negotiation of a draft agreement on air transport with Yemen and approved a protocol to combat human trafficking.

Appointments were also approved, including Eng. Ali Al-Barak and Khalid Al-Faleh to the board of directors of the General Corporation for Technical Education and Vocational Training (GOTEVOT) for three years; Fahd Al-Zaid as ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Dr. Obaid Al-Obaid as assistant undersecretary for planning and development at the Ministry of Health.
