The state budget for Fiscal Year 2008 (1428-1429 H) was approved in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz today.

In a speech, King Abdullah announced that the 2008 budget is projected at SR 410 billion [$128.5 billion], SR 30 billion [$8 billion] higher than last year.

The King said that SR 39 billion [$10.4 billion] will be allocated to education, SR 44.5 billion [$11.9 billion] to health care and social development, SR 7 billion [$1.9 billion] for the development of the judiciary, SR 14.6 billion [$3.9 billion] for transportation, and SR 45 billion [$12.1 billion] for water, municipal services and agriculture.
