Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal traveled to Cairo today to participate in a four-way meeting on the political development in Lebanon. Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa, and French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner also attended the meeting.
Kouchner briefed the other attendees on his visit to Lebanon this weekend, where he met with rival Lebanese leaders. Kouchner’s visit culminated in bringing together the Lebanese parties for a luncheon at the French Embassy in Beirut.
Before departing for Cairo, Prince Saud met with Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Miguel Angel Moratinos in Jeddah. The two ministers discussed a number of issues related to Saudi-Spanish cooperation. After the meeting, Moratinos headed for Beirut for talks with Lebanese officials, including Prime Minister Fuad Siniora.
Tomorrow, Prince Saud will attend an extraordinary meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo.
