Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz has issued a list of major crimes for which suspects will be arrested. Prince Nayef issued the guidelines on July 23, 2007, and they will take effect August 14, 2007.

The major crimes listed include: crimes punishable by death or amputation; premeditated or partially premeditated murder; terrorism as well as crimes against national security; car theft; pimping; possessing or producing alcohol; embezzling; assault; destroying public or private property worth more than $1,333 [SR 5,000]; using or threatening to use a firearm; breaking into a home with an intent to kill, rob or rape; violating a person’s privacy by taking photos and publishing or threatening to publish them; and assaulting one’s parents.

Also included are cases involving drugs, weapons and ammunition, counterfeiting money, forgery, bribery, impersonating an official and money laundering.
