Sixteen Guantanamo detainees repatriated to Saudi Arabia

Sixteen Saudi detainees at the US military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, were returned to Saudi Arabia early today.


Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz welcomed the return of the detainees and said that efforts remain underway to bring all of the Saudi citizens currently being held at Guantanamo Bay back to the Kingdom. He also praised US authorities for their cooperation in the matter.

The Ministry also released the names of the 16 detainees. They are: Abdel-hadi Abdullah Ibrahim al-Sharikh; Abdulrazzaq Abdullah Ibrahim al-Sharikh; Fahd Atiyyah Hamza al-Harazi; Rami Saad Ghalib al-Juaid; Abdel-Hakeem Abdel-Karim Ameen Bukhari; Khalid Hassan Hussein al-Barakati al-Shareef; Majed Abdullah Saeed Baryan; Mohammed Mubarak Salim Al-Kerbi; Abdullah Thani Fares al-Salami al-Anazi; Zain Zahir Zain al-Fideili al-Shammari; Abdulaziz Saad Mohammed Al-Oshan; Mousa Ali Saeed al-Saeed al-Omari; Salim Abdullah Saeed al-Biheish al-Shihri; Fahd Mohammed Abdullah al-Fozan; Omran Bakr Mohammed Hosawi; and Bakri Awad Bakri al-Sameeri.
