Bechtel has been selected to supervise and develop a massive real estate project in Jeddah.
In a press release yesterday, the Kingdom Holding Company – which is planning the $13.3 billion [SR 50 billion] project – said that Bechtel was chosen over seven other companies in a competitive bid.
The Kingdom Holding Company received the Jeddah project’s master plan from renowned designers Pickard Chilton, who also designed the Kingdom Center.
The Jeddah project has an area of 5.3 million square meters and is located in the city’s northern area on the Red Sea coastline. It includes a colossal skyscraper with a surrounding area for residential and commercial facilities, offices and a five-star hotel.
Bechtel is a global engineering, construction and project management company with more than a century of experience on complex projects, especially Saudi Arabia. Based in San Francisco, the company has 40 offices worldwide and nearly 40,000 employees.
