Saudi foreign minister holds meetings in New York

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal has participated in a number of meetings since arriving in New York to head the Saudi delegation to the 62nd United Nations General Assembly. 

Yesterday, Prince Saud attended a meeting of foreign ministers to discuss the situation in Iraq. Chaired by UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon and Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki, the meeting also included representatives of the UN Security Council’s permanent members, G-8 nations and international organizations.

Prince Saud also met separately with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari and Iranian Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki to discuss issues on the agenda for the UN General Assembly session.

The Saudi foreign minister has also attended a ministerial meeting on Darfur, which highlighted the importance of peace efforts in the Sudanese region.
