As of January 1, the number of pilgrims coming to Saudi Arabia from abroad to perform the Hajj this year stands at 1,269,209. According to Director-General of Passports Maj. General Salem Al-Blaihed, 1,149,991 arrived by air, 21,123 by sea and 98,095 by land.
In addition, as of January 1, more than 728,289 pilgrims have arrived in Madinah. Hassan al-Bakri, director-general of the Hajj Ministry’s Madinah branch, said that efforts have been boosted to facilitate the pilgrims’ movement.
