Saudi Arabia has refuted an article attributed to Saudi security adviser Nawaf Obaid that was published in the Washington Post Wednesday.

A Saudi official said that the article is “is absolutely not true” and that Obaid’s views do not reflect those of the Saudi government.

“This writer does not represent any official Saudi authority. What has been published (in the newspaper) represents only his own view. It also does not represent in any way the Kingdom’s policy and stand to support security, unity and stability of Iraq with all its sects and doctrines,” the official said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency.
