King Abdullah meets with Secretary Rice

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz met with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at the his farm near Jenadriyah yesterday for a wide-ranging discussion of regional and global issues.

Other Saudi officials in attendance included Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Chief of General Intelligence Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Ambassador to the United States Prince Turki Al-Faisal.

The Saudi-US talks focused on bilateral relations as well as major regional and international issues, including the Palestinian situation, the Middle East peace process, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, issues concerning Iran, and reform in Saudi Arabia.

King Abdullah also received a letter from President Bush shortly before Secretary Rice’s visit stressing the depth of bilateral relations and the importance of strengthening them, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal said in a press conference yesterday.

Saudi Arabia was the second stop on Secretary Rice’s week-long trip to the Middle East, which also included visits to Egypt, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates.
