Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz held a press conference last night after attending the presentation ceremony for the King Faisal International Award winners for 2006.
On administrative reform, Crown Prince Sultan said that intensive efforts are underway to streamline the bureaucracy.
Crown Prince Sultan denied reports that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan were cooperating to develop nuclear weapons, and pointed out that Pakistan has also denied any such cooperation. The Kingdom opposes nuclear weapons, he noted.
Turning to Iraq, Crown Prince Sultan said that he does not believe there will be a civil war there. The current differences are the result of the collapse of a dictatorial regime, he noted, and expressed the hope that Iraqi factions would unite.
The Crown Prince said that Saudi Arabia was cooperating with the US in the matter of Saudi detainees at Guantanamo Bay, and that he hopes the issue will be resolved soon.
He also stressed that Saudi oil facilities are fully secure.
