Crown Prince Sultan begins official visit to Japan

  Crown Prince Sultan arrives in Japan

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz arrived in Japan today for a three-day official visit. He was met at the Tokyo airport by Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan and other senior officials.

In remarks to the Arabic language newspaper Al-Yawm, Emperor Akihito of Japan said that exchanges such as the visit of Crown Prince Sultan strengthen cooperation between the two countries. The emperor recalled the 1998 visit by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, as well as the 1971 visit by the late King Faisal, and noted that they had enhanced the Saudi-Japanese friendship. Emperor Akihito also recalled Crown Prince Sultan’s visit to Japan as Minister of Communications in 1960.

In Tokyo, Crown Prince Sultan met with various groups, including the Japanese-Saudi Friendship Association and the Japanese Muslim Association. He also met with members of the Saudi community in Japan, including representatives of the Arab Islamic Institute, Saudi Aramco, SABIC and Saudi scholarship students attending Japanese universities.
