Mobily, the Kingdom’s second mobile service provider, announced yesterday that it plans to expand its service to cover more populated areas in Saudi Arabia, the Arab News reported today.

Expansion plans include installing more than 2,500 base stations and coverage of 90 percent of the Kingdom’s populated areas by the end of June 2006.

Mobily currently has network coverage in over 65 cities, in addition to more than 13,000 km of highways.

The GSM Association, a global trade association representing more than 690 GSM mobile phone operators across 213 territories and countries, has described Mobily as the fastest growing mobile operator in the Middle East and North Africa.
