Princess Nouf bint Fahd, the wife of the Saudi Ambassador to the US Prince Turki Al-Faisal, hosted a luncheon at the ambassador’s residence on June 9 for the Saudi delegation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation 2006 Mission Conference, which is taking place from June 11-13 in Washington. Guests at the luncheon also included ladies from the Saudi Embassy and the Saudi community.

In her address at the conference yesterday, First Lady Laura Bush announced the establishment of the US-Middle East Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research, a major campaign to fight breast cancer in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia is a member of the partnership, which also includes the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Medicine, and the United Arab Emirates.

In a statement to SPA, Princess Nouf welcomed the campaign, and noted that such initiatives enhance ties between the Kingdom and the US. She also highlighted the significant strides that have been made in the Kingdom’s health sector.
