King Abdullah reviews regional issues with Arab leaders

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz reviewed regional developments in communications with Arab leaders today.

King Abdullah discussed the crisis in Lebanon in a telephone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora. In the call from the prime minister, King Abdullah reiterated Saudi Arabia's support for Lebanon and expressed his hope that Lebanon would soon be able to begin reconstruction.

For his part, Siniora told King Abdullah that Lebanon is optimistic about UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a cease-fire and then an increase in UN troops in southern Lebanon.

King Abdullah also received a call today from Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki. The conversation focused on the situation in Iraq. Bilateral issues were also discussed.

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal personally delivered a message from King Abdullah to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Alexandria. The message dealt with various Arab issues, especially the crisis in Lebanon.
