King Abdullah meets with French defense minister

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz met today with visiting French Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. Alliot-Marie conveyed a message from French President Jacques Chirac, then discussions focused on regional and international issues.


Crown Prince Sultan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal also attended King Abdullah’s meeting with the French defense minister.

Crown Prince Sultan also met separately with Alliot-Marie today. They discussed bilateral cooperation as well as international developments, in particular Lebanon, the Palestinian situation and Iraq. Prince Saud Al-Faisal attended this meeting as well.

In remarks, Crown Prince Sultan highlighted the friendly relationship between Saudi Arabia and France, while Alliot-Marie stressed the important role that Saudi Arabia can play to foster global peace and stability.
