Prince Turki hosts National Day reception at the Embassy

  Prince Turki welcomes National Day guests

Saudi Ambassador to the US Prince Turki Al-Faisal hosted a reception in honor of the Kingdom's 76th National Day at the Embassy in Washington last night.

The guests included US officials, members of Congress, Arab and Muslim ambassadors as well as leaders of the Saudi community and their families.

During the celebrations, Prince Turki presented two distinguished awards: the Employee of the Year award to Abdullah bin Saud Al-Anazi, a counselor at the Saudi mission at the UN, and the 2006 Saudi-US Relations award to Arthur Thexton.

The Embassy also hosted a celebration in honor of National Day on Friday night for the Saudi community. At both celebrations, folklore troupes played traditional Arab music and performed  the ardha , a traditional Saudi dance.

National Day marks the anniversary of the founding of the modern Kingdom by King Abdulaziz Al-Saud in 1932. It is observed each year on September 23.
