Palestinian President meets with Saudi leaderships

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Riyadh Monday night for a one-day official visit to the Kingdom. President Abbas met with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz at the King’s office at al-Yamamah Palace Tuesday, where they discussed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza.  King Abdullah underscored the importance of Palestinian unity, which has been fraying under internal differences among Palestinian factions.  He urged the International Quartet to resume its efforts toward restarting the peace process

Other Saudi officials in attendance included: Prince Miqren bin Abdulaziz, Chief of General Intelligence, Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah, advisor to the King, Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State, and Palestinian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Jamal Abdulaziz al-Shobki.

President Abbas also met with Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Tuesday. Several other officials were in attendance, including former Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmad Qurei and Minister Abdullah bin Ahmad Zenel.

Abbas left Riyadh Tuesday night, concluding his official visit.
