Saudi Arabia rejects accusations of prisoner torture
The following statement was issued today by Saudi Ambassador to the United States Prince Turki Al-Faisal:

[Washington, DC] – The government of Saudi Arabia rejects assertions that while in custody Ahmed Abu Ali was tortured in any way.  While detained, Mr. Abu Ali was visited on a regular basis by United States officials who found no evidence of either physical or mental abuse.  Moreover, following the decision to extradite him to the US, in compliance with requests by the US government, Mr. Abu Ali was examined by four physicians, including an American and a British doctor, who found no evidence of physical abuse. The government of Saudi Arabia has always maintained that the practice of torture is illegal, and there are laws in place to punish transgressors.
