A new brand of Saudi-made mobile phones will enter the lucrative phone market by the end of this month.  The mobile phones, based on indigenous technology, will be produced by Saudi Arabian Television Manufacturing Company.

Saudi Arabian Television Manufacturing Company's goal is to produce 2 million units in 2005, for sale in Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries, Ghazi Saleh Al-Shalhoub, chairman of the company, told Arab News.  The Kingdom imports around six million mobile phones a year, with 70 percent of consumers regularly changing their mobiles.
