Oil Minister addresses Montreal climate change conference

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Al-Naimi addressed the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2005 in Montreal today. In his remarks, Al-Naimi highlighted Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect the environment, and stressed the Kingdom’s willingness to cooperate with the international community to do the same. The Saudi oil minister also remarked that any international effort to preserve the environment should not take place at the expense of oil and natural gas.

The Montreal conference is being held in conjunction with the eleventh United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change.
