One day after the call by Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for Muslim leaders to convene in Makkah to draw up a joint view on the current situation in the Islamic world, the Jeddah-based Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) expressed welcome of the initiative and vowed to work on convening the extraordinary Islamic summit, preceded by a meeting for Islamic intellectuals and thinkers to delineate recommendations.
In a statement issued in Jeddah yesterday, the OIC described the initiative as important and timely, and announced that the OIC Secretariat-General will immediately start contacts with Saudi Arabia as the host country, as well as member states.
