Plans for development of urban tourist sites

Secretary-General of the Supreme Commission for Tourism Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, in an address yesterday at a conference in Muscat, Oman to discuss 'An Urban Vision for Sustainable Tourism', announced the Kingdom’s plans for developing urban as well as rural areas for tourism purposes. Saudi Arabia, he said, has prepared two conventions for the preservation of its urban heritage, one for Arab and the other for Muslim countries, as well as planning expansion of museums. There are in the Kingdom 6,366 sites of antiquities, 1,975 of which are urban.
