International conference on school curricula in Muslim nations

A number of Saudi academics attended the international conference in Egypt organized by the Supreme Council of Islamic Universities in cooperation with Egypt’s Menia University, and chaired by Dr Abdullah Al-Turki, Secretary-General of the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL). The three-day conference, on how to improve curricula in educational institutions in the Muslim world, called for revitalization of Islamic studies in the light of the Holy Qur’an and the sunnah (the teachings of the Prophet); and recommended that greater attention be paid to teaching the Arabic language, warning against westernization at its expense.
