The announcement comes after Saudi Arabia held elections for half of the members of the 178 municipal councils last spring.
“I have the pleasure to announce the completion of the formation of the municipal councils with the grace of God and with the instructions of King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan,” said Prince Miteb as quoted in the Arab News. He also announced the names of both the elected and nominated members of the councils.
Prince Miteb called on the council members to shoulder their responsibilities, as the world will be monitoring their performance.
The following individuals are the members of the Riyadh Municipal Council, as reported by the Arab News: Riyadh mayor, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Quayid, Dr. Suleiman Al-Rashoudi, Dr. Saud Al-Namir, Dr. Abdurahman Al-Homaid, Abdullah Al-Suwailem, Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Omari, Abdullah Al-Obaikan, Abdullah Al-Suwailem, Omar Basudan, Tarek Al-Qassabi, Dr. Farhat Tashkandi, Mashari Muammar and Dr. Misfer Al-Bawaredi.
