Director-General of Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) Dr Khaled bin Bakr today confirmed that the national airline is moving ahead with its plans to privatize a number of its sectors. There will be a total restructuring following consultancy studies, including transformation into commercial concerns of aspects such as catering, ground handling, and maintenance, as well as the Prince Sultan Academy of Aviation.
Dr bin Bakr explained that the catering sector is the first to be targeted for privatization, because of its profitable nature. Committees are being formed for each sector to work towards making that sector more attractive to investors. SAA as a whole has recorded a profit for the third year running, he said, reflecting improvements in services and technology such as electronic reservations.
