Saudi petrochemical company signs joint venture with German firm

The Saudi International Petrochemical Company, Sipchem, has signed a joint venture agreement with Helm Arabia Gmbh of Germany to set up projects in Jubail to produce 460,000 tons of acetic acid and 300,000 tons of vinyl acetate monomer a year. Sipchem will market the products in the Middle East, while Helm Arabia will market them elsewhere. Start of the project is scheduled for 2008.
