The Ministry of Higher Education has announced the availability of 2,500 scholarships for Saudis wishing to study in the United States. A wide variety of fields are covered, from bachelor’s through PhD degrees, in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, engineering, computer science, basic sciences, law, accounting and e-commerce. These have arisen as a direct result of the recent visit to the United States by Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
Saudis eligible for the scholarships are those who already have admission to a U.S. university and a valid visa. There are currently 15,516 Saudis studying abroad, of whom 6,744 are on government scholarships. This number includes students in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Austria, Japan, China, Russia, Canada, Australia, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the United States.
