Arab report shows Kingdom’s lead in investment

The Arab Establishment for Investment Security issued in Cairo today its 20th annual report, which covers the investment environment in the Arab world for the fiscal year 2004. The report signals positive aspects in overall investment performance in the Arab world, pointing out an increase in the relevant economic index for the fourth year in a row to reach 1.08, up from 1.01 in 2003. Saudi Arabia ranked top in a list of 14 Arab countries; the Kingdom had investments worth $1.3 billion, representing 22 percent of the total. Second was Egypt with $1.1 billion, followed by Sudan with $657 million, Morocco with $374 million, and Lebanon with $105 million.
