The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in coordination with the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), has gifted an airplane to Senegal in order to help that country combat desert locusts. The airplane was donated in response to an appeal by Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade.

A reception was held September 20 at the Dakar air base to mark the arrival of the plane. A representative of the FAO said in remarks that the delivery of the plane is part of Saudi Arabia’s continuous support for Senegal and other West African countries in their efforts to fight the swarms of locusts that are sweeping the area, and exemplifies the strength of relations between the Kingdom and Senegal.
