Kingdom takes preventive measures against bird flu

The Saudi Ministry of Health has allocated an initial SR 25 million [US $6.7 million] to purchase medicine which can be used in the treatment and prevention of bird flu as part of a national plan to control the disease if it enters the Kingdom. Dr. Yaqub Al-Mazro’a, Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Health, said there were currently no cases of bird flu in the Kingdom. In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture has created an operations room for following any information related to the disease.
