King Abdullah opens donation campaign for Pakistan

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz on Saturday opened the popular donations campaign which he directed be launched throughout the Kingdom to help those who suffered from the earthquake that hit Pakistan by donating SR 10 million [US $2.7 million]. The King’s donation is in addition to a grant of SR 500 million [US $133 million] to rebuild Pakistan’s infrastructure and provide emergency relief.

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz donated SR 5 million [US $1.3 million] as part of the campaign, which was broadcast live on Saudi TV. Chairman of the Kingdom Holding Company Prince Alwaleed bin Talal donated SR 20 million [US $5.3 million]. As of yesterday, the telethon had collected more than SR 121 million [US $32 million] in donations.
