Minister of Transport Dr Jubara Al-Sureisiri said that railway projects worth more than SR 4 billion [$1.1 billion] will be open to private investors, in a report published today by the Saudi Gazette. 

Al-Sureisiri explained that the Supreme Economic Council had made several important decisions regarding the Saudi railway, including expanding the network from Jubail and Dammam to Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Yanbu via Riyadh. The line will extend more than 1,065km – 950km of the line will extend to Jeddah and Riyadh, while a 115km line will link Dammam and Jubail.
